George O. Wood

George O. Wood

George O. Wood was elected General Superintendent of the General Council of the Assemblies of God (A/G) in the U.S.A in August 2008. He had previously served as General Secretary from from 1993 to 2007.

Before his election to national office in the A/G, he was Assistant Superintendent of the Southern California District (1988-93). For 17 years he was pastor of Newport-Mesa Christian Center in Costa Mesa, California. From 1965 until 1971, he was director of Spiritual Life and Student Life at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri.Dr. Wood’s education includes a B.A. from Evangel University, a D.P.Th. degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., and a J.D. from Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, Calif. He is a member of the California State Bar.
