Knightswood

Knightswood is a district in Glasgow, containing 4 areas: Knightswood North or High Knightswood, Knightswood South or Scotstounhill, Knightswood Park and Blairdardie. A suburban area, it is a grid of houses. It has a golf course [ [http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/Parks_Outdoors/Activities/Golf/knightswoodgolfcourse.htm Knightswood Golf Course] ] and park, and good transport links with the rest of the city. Garscadden and Scotstounhill railway stations serve Low Knightswood while Westerton station serves High Knightswood. The area was mainly constructed in the 1920s and 1930s on garden suburb principles [ [http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/9845E41E-2F85-4A3A-85A0-7C1E27DD585C/0/Knightswood.pdf Glasgow Council Knightswood leaflet] ] . Housing is mainly of cottage flat and semi-detached types, and is similar to other parts of the city such as Mosspark in the South Side and Carntyne in the East End, constructed around the same period.

Shopping in Knightswood can be done in many places, mostly in Knightswood Shopping Centre, an area comprising around 10 shops. There are also some shops on Alderman Road, both at Dyke Road and near the community centre.
