Federation X is a rock band, originally formed in Bellingham, Washington, though now shares members between Bellingham and Portland, Oregon. Founded by Ben Wildenhaus (guitar), Bill Badgley (guitar, vocals), and Beau Boyd (drums) in 1998. The band has toured the US, and has had two European tours, and a tour of Israel. In the beginning, the band released a self-titled LP on its own Molasses Manifesto Records, then followed it in 2001 with "American Folk Horror", released by Bellingham's Estrus Records. Estrus also released "X Patriot," and in 2005 released "Rally Day". The band has been compared to such heavy acts as Melvins, Karp, and Black Sabbath. While Wildenhaus and Badgley have always played 4-string guitars, 2006 saw the addition of guitarist Josh Holland, so that Badgley could have the space to concentrate on his vocal duties.
