Kashima Railway Line

The nihongo|Kashima Railway Line|鹿島鉄道線|Kashima Tetsudōsen was the sole line operated by the Kashima Railway Company in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. It operated between Ishioka Station and Hokota Station. It closed on 1 April 2007.

History

*1924: First segment opens. Steam trains begin operation as Kashima Sangū Tetsudō.
*1929: Complete line operational.
*1965: Railway company changes name to Kantō Railway; line becomes Hokota Line.
*1979: Kashima Railway spun off.
*2002: Freight operations cease.
*2006: Company announces forthcoming closure of line.
*1 April 2007: Line closes.
