Kabul ( _ar. كابول, _he. כאבול) is a local council in the North District of Israel, located east of Acre and north of Shefa-'Amr.

History

The Romans called the village of Kabul "Chabalon" and its Crusader name was "Cabor". The village was captured by Israel on July 15 1948 during Operation Dekel. Israeli forces did not attack Kabul and very few of Kabul's residents fled the village.

Demography

According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics the town of Kabul had a population of 9,400 in 2005. Its inhabitants are mostly Muslims. The village hosts a large number of internal Palestinian refugees from nearby destroyed villages of al-Birwa, al-Damun, Mi'ar and al-Ruways.
