Venganoor has been described as a very ordinary village near southern end of Kerala, India. It is known as the birth place of
Ayyankali, the great Harijan leader of Kerala.cite web

The panchayat has made great progress through the efforts of its congressman, Rufus Daniel, and its citizens. It now has been recognised as the first S1 village in Kerala by the State Planning Board. This designation recognises that the village is working toward the goals of self-reliance, sufficiency and sustainability. [cite web
