White House Black Market

White House Black Market

White House Black Market is a popular American fashion store targeting women from 25-55. White House Black Market is known for its sleek lines, and its focus on white, black, and other variants of the two colors.

In 1985, The White House, a tiny women's boutique exclusively offering white and ivory apparel and accessories opened its doors in Baltimore, Maryland. Continuing its monochromatic theme, the same owners opened Black Market in 1995. The concepts were combined in 1997, creating White House | Black Market stores.

In September of 2003, White House | Black Market became a subsidiary of Chico's FAS, Inc.

The brand gained significant publicity in summer 2008 when one of their dresses was worn by Michelle Obama when she appeared on The View.
