Alor Regency

Alor Regency is a regency in East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia. Alor Regency is divided into seventeen subdistricts ( _id. kecamatan): Mutiara Bay ("Teluk Mutiara"), North Central Alor, South Alor, Southwest Alor, East Alor, Southeast Alor, Northwest Alor, Northeast Alor, Pantar, West Pantar, East Pantar, Central Pantar, Southwest Pantar, Mataru, Pureman, Pura Island, Lembur and Kabola.

Alor Regency occupies 2,864.64 km² land area and 10,973.62 km² water area. There are fifteen islands in the archipelago, nine of which (Alor, Pantar, Pura, Treweng, Kepa, Buaya, Kangge and Kura) are inhabited, and the rest six uninhabited are Sika, Kapas, Batang, Lapang, Rusa and formerly Kambing Island, (Atauro) of East Timor.

The main transportation access in the regency is by means of sea. The state-owned PELNI sea liners operate in the archipelago for major transport to the main port hub in Kalabahi beside small boats operating between small islands. A small Perintis Mali airstrip (18 km east of Kalabahi) can only be used by small CASA airplanes, operated by Merpati Nusantara Airlines airlines.
