St. John's, Worcester

St. John's, Worcester

St John's is a large suburb of Worcester, west of the city centre and the River Severn.

It is the home of the Worcestershire County Cricket Club. St Johns is the main area of Worcester that floods annually and the Cricket ground floods particularly heavily. It is rumoured locally that the silt deposited by the annual floods is the reason for the wickets generally excellent condition.

St Johns was the first suburb of Worcester to be blighted by high rise flats, three of these monstrosities dominate the St Johns skyline.

Within the suburb of St Johns are many pubs, The Bush , The Bell, The Brewers Arms, The Fox, The Crown, The Bedwardine, The Garibaldi, The Crown and Anchor, The Wheatsheaf, The Coppertops, The Grosvenor (a particularly grubby little pub), The Portobello. I myself have been thrown out of most of the pubs listed at one time or another.

It has a sport centre and plenty of shops and soon to be a major supermarket (sainsburys.)
