Mace (store)

Mace (store)

Mace is a brand operated by three chains of convenience stores in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland. All three chains are symbol groups, means that they operate on a franchise basis and only a minority of stores are company owned. The three chains have some shared history, but are now competely separately owned and operated.

The Great Britain chain is operated by Palmer and Harvey. [http://www.palmerharvey.co.uk/ph_about_symbol.asp]

The Republic of Ireland chain is operated by BWG Foods. As well as high street branches, it also operates a number of stores on Maxol forecourts.

The Northern Ireland chain is operated by J & J Haslett, and has 197 stores, including 20 express stores which are mainly implemented as part of filling station forecourts [ [http://www.maceni.com MACE Northern Ireland Symbol Supermarkets - J & J Haslett ] ] . J & J Haslett was until 2003 a subsidary of BWG Foods, therefore the Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland chains have the same logo and look and feel. The Great Britain chain however, has a completely different logo.
